Wigging out!

Yesterday I posted about Charleston, today it's back to my hometown, Asheville... This wig store has been creeping me out as long as I can remember, but I'm beginning to think it's pretty cool!

I'm loving this ghostly photo... Don't know the couple, but it doesn't even matter! From Photosmashing

"Return to Charleston"

Found an interesting article in Southern Living about their favorite Southern lady (no, despite what you are thinking, it's not me!). Check out the 10 must-dos for your visit...

...so I got them! How could I not? They were on sale, in my size only, for $49 from $170! Whoo-hoo! From Anthropologie

I would much rather be here than at work! I'm especially enjoying the lights strung through the trees (I'll bet this is an extra-nice detail at dusk), sunflowers, and the weathered wooden door leading indoors. From Marie Claire Maison

Handmade Team Spirit dress by Parsimony

Oh, Tequila!

I'm always on the hunt for new cocktails to try. We have a new bottle of tequila, but run-of-the-mill margaritas are getting pretty tired. Up next is the "Dorato" - honestly, I'm choosing it because I have everything at home I need to make it!

The Dorato (from Cocktail Times)

What you'll need:

- 2 oz tequila

- 1 oz lemon juice

- 4 oz tonic

- 1 tsp simple syrup (I make my own - find out how here)

- lime or lemon for garnish

What to do:
Shake tequila, lemon juice, and simple syrup with ice. Pour into a tall glass, top with tonic, stick a slice of citrus on the glass, and enjoy!

I'm loving the crisp apple green and way it contrasts with the yellow dishes and OJ, as well as the bright poppy detail on the glasses and fruit.

Looking forward to... Where The Wild Things Are movie!

A timeless book, Where The Wild Things Are is coming to the silver screen! It's due out in October. I love the hand-drawn posters.

fotofind: sunlight mist print

I'm biased - this photograph was taken by my aunt, but it is one of my favorites. It reminds me of lying on my back in the grass, and getting that feeling that I am just soooo small...
We have this print hanging in our living room, complete with a handmade charcoal frame done by my uncle. Framing a picture you have taken, or a favorite print, is a unique anytime gift idea. Don't forget to write a personal note on the back!

Bikini Birthday!

Sixty-two years ago this week, the bikini made its debut. According to Slate, the bikini was so scandalous that even the French models who were supposed to wear it refused - the design was instead worn by a stripper! Webster's Dictionary defines the bikini as "a women's scanty two-piece bathing suit", which lends itself to interpretation.

1946 The bikini was unveiled during a Paris fashion show

Vintage Inspired Swimwear flatters curves and is sexy, without showing too much skin. It's not something you see on the beaches of SC on a regular basis, either -

Suits from Anthropolgie, Michael Kors 2009 collection, and Urban Outfitters, respectively. It's hard to defy the classic lines and pin-up girl quality of stripes and polka dots.

What a great picture. The way the light hits her, the knotted pearls, strappy heels - makes me want to go to Italy! She's got great remarkable panache for a high school student.

I want this!

The Antipasti platter is designed to maximize table space and lends itself to serving food to share. There's nothing more I love than a good cheese plate, and this is a GREAT (yet functional - could it get any better??) way to display one. Like I always ask my mom, "Should I get it?"...
